The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets have agreed to a deal that will send minor league journey-man, Vinny Nittoli over to New York.

Nittoli was drafted by the Seattle Mariners, where he spent three seasons, only making it as high as High-A.

The right-handed pitcher who was signed as a minor league free agent with the Chicago Cubs earlier in the year in January, will now join Drew Smith, Brooks Raley, as well as Jeff Brigham.

While he doesn’t throw overwhelmingly hard, the RHP is known for his strong fastball and slider combination, as well as his ability to induce ground balls.

He has also demonstrated some consistency in the Minors, maintaining an ERA of 4.37 and a 1.19 WHIP throughout his MiLB career.

Overall, Vinny Nittoli is a talented and promising addition of depth in the bullpen to the Mets organization, and his performance with thus far suggests that he has the potential to make a significant impact this season.

So far, he’s appeared in 16 games while striking out more than 9 batters per nine innings (9.6) and owns a 3.48 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched.
