Former White Sox infielder Danny Mendick has signed a 1 year pact with the Mets worth $1M, in a surprising move.

Unfortunately, Mendick, a Rochester, New York native, will likely start 2023 on the Injured List as he suffered a torn ACL in June.

The former 22nd round pick played in 31 games last season and hit .289/.343/.443/.786 with four doubles, three home runs, and 15 runs batted in.

Once healthy, it could potentially mean that Luis Guillorme’s run as a Met could be coming to an end, however the newly acquired Mendick does still have two MiLB options available.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
