Mets Trade James McCann

The Mets were able to find a taker for catcher James McCann, and hey, that’s all they needed. McCann will pack his bags and head for Maryland as the veteran backstop is now an Oriole.

As of now, the Mets haven’t received a player back in the deal. Also, Steve Cohen will assume a large portion of his $24M contract, $19M to be exact.

This move clears up the jam behind the dish, as Omar Narvaez will now only have Tomas Nido as his competition for playing time. This of course is under the assumption that rookie phenom Francisco Alvarez will start 2023 in AAA in order to refine his defensive skills.

The Mets currently have 42 players on the 40 man roster.
