Anthony DiComo of MLB.com is reporting that the Mets have claimed Jacob Barnes off of waivers from the Angels.

The right-hander put up a 5.50 ERA during the 2020 season and owns a career ERA of 4.36 throughout the span of five seasons.

Corné’s Cut:

According to mlbtraderumors, the Mets have claimed right handed reliever Jacob Barnes from the Angels. Barnes had success with the Brewers from 2016-2018, but has struggled after leaving Milwaukee.

Overall in his career Barnes has pitched to a 4.36 ERA, but his FIP is a lot lower at 3.85.

In 18 innings this year, he struck out 24 and pitched to a 2.25 FIP, but his overall ERA wasn’t good at 5.50.

Barnes relies on his cut fastball as he used his cutter more than half of the time. He has a big arm as his 4 seamer reaches mid-high 90’s.

Lets hope Barnes can return to his Brewers days, were he collected an ERA+ over 100.
