There’s no secret that there’s history between Hoskins and the Mets.
Of course, that all coming while Hoskins was a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, however it all almost spilled over today as Hoskins slid into second base relatively hard.
While it was all deemed legal after it was all said and done, you can see that Hoskins technically didn’t break any rules as he was still able to keep a hand on the bag. However, he did go in pretty late, causing hard contact with McNeil.
On McNeil’s end, you can see his quarrel with the play. With all the rules going into protecting the defender on that very type of play, that kind of hard contact just isn’t expected.
And right after the play, McNeil started barking a storm up at Hoskins. It was then when Hoskins went into NBA mode as he waiting for his teammates to come on the field before he ever said a thing.
It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any retaliation by the Mets in the upcoming games against the Brewers.
