Alonso smashed an 0-1 change up over the left field wall in the bottom half of the fourth inning, giving the Mets the 1-0 advantage. The bomb came off of lefty JoJo Romero, who is slated to be apart of the Cardinals bullpen this upcoming season.

What’s it going to take for Steven Cohen to open up that mighty checkbook of his and lock up Pete for a long term extension? Who knows, right?

However, we do know this much… Alonso will likely have another 40+, 45+ home run season, to go along with 100+ R.B.I.’s.. I genuinely believe that Cohen will not be left with a choice, other than giving the Polar Bear 🐻‍❄️ the extension, and yes, it’ll be an expensive one.
