It’s always great to hear people within the industry praise some of the great talent that’s coming up through the wire. However, when you have the team’s manager speaking about how special of a talent he is, you genuinely can feel the excitement.

While Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza hasn’t really spent that much time with Gilbert, I’m sure he’s watched some of last season’s footage.

Speaking of footage, here’s a clip of Drew Gilbert going opposite field with a single that would drive in two in Wednesday’s contest against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Mets fans surely are waiting on him. When asked where could we see Gilbert on the diamond, Mendoza pointed out how his speed and throwing strength could put him at all three outfield positions.

Hopefully, he won’t actually be running through walls…
