Local product Adam Ottavino stated in the past that he would be interested in staying with the team, utilizing his player option for the 2024 season worth a modest $7.25M.

However, things may not be that clear cut and dry. Ottavino has since backtracked somewhat, pointing out that the team doesn’t even have a manager for the upcoming season.

While Ottavino might have all the interest in the world in exercising that option, the new regime might not be as interested back.

Or it could be much more simpler than that, he could just want an opportunity at a pay raise.

The 37 year old right-hander appeared in 66 games for the Mets and pitched to a 3.21 ERA.
