Pete Alonso let the media know that he hasn’t been in contact with the Mets front office for a while, as well as commenting on the teams great reset.
I’m guessing that it might not be sitting well with the Front Office, since Alonso said earlier in the year that business between him and the FO is solely between them.
While he was talking specifically about a potential contract extension, I’m sure the FO would prefer comments like his to remain between them.
Ironically, this lack of communication and riff between both sides might just be stemming from those very same conversations in pertains to locking Alonso up, long term.
“We love having Pete here. … He’s such a strong player for this organization and he means so much to the community and our identity. … But what comes beyond (2024), that’ll be a discussion that we kind of hold behind closed doors.”
Billy Eppler
Eppler also let the media know that he plans to be in Kansas City, and will speak to Alonso about direction, as well as the team’s future plans.
Hopefully this will be resolved, and please, oh please, let it happen quickly. Alonso has been a fan favorite for a while, even before the slugger made his MLB debut.
More to come…
