The lefty out of Newark, California has been shutting down the opposition out in AAA, earning him closer look and breakdown with this weeks “#MetsCrushMonday”.
So for anyone wondering, #MetsCrushMonday’s will be reserved for either prospects we’re crushing on as they climb the rankings or Major Leaguers that are currently crushing whoever stands in the way… even in the Minors.
In his last outing, the left-hander was sharp as he struck out eight in seven frames. He also gave up five hits while walking four and surrendering two earned runs.
In 53.1 innings, the finesse artist owns a 2.36 ERA while striking out 53 in 9 starts. While the competition isn’t at the Major League level, he’s striking out at least one batter per inning (Almost).
However, while in the Majors, Lucchesi hasn’t been able to match the success he’s had over in Syracuse… and it’s been frustrating. He last appeared for the parent club on May 13th, giving up four hits and a run in two frames.
The Mets acquired Lucchesi back in the Winter of 2021 when they finagled themselves into a Pirates and Padres deal involving front of the line starter, Joe Musgrove.
Since joining the Orange & Blue, the southpaw has tossed just 60.2 innings.
