The Mets got clobbered 20-2 against the Braves in the second game of the series. Pete Alonso provided the only runs with a first inning 2 run bomb.

Peterson gave it right back and ended up leaving due to right side soreness in the 4th. Peterson overall line wasn’t pretty as he allowed 6 runs (5 earned) over 3 plus innings.

The Mets defense and Sean Reid-Foley didn’t stop the bleeding as he allowed 5 runs (4 earned) while getting just one out.

Szapucki tried to eat innings, but was clearly gassed in the eight. He allowed 6 runs over 3.2 innings in his debut. Albert Almora got the position player pitching assignment, allowing 3 in the innings.

In the end it is just one loss and the Mets have a shot to win the series with deGrom facing Anderson. With a Nats win the Mets lead has shrunk to 2 games.
