Tuesday’s Pitching Preview 6/15

The 33-25 New York Mets will play the second of a four-game set against the 38-28 Chicago Cubs. After taking the the first game against the Cubs, the Mets look to at least split the series with a win tonight.

Tonight’s contest will feature Taijuan Walker on the hill for the Mets, making his 12th appearance of the season. The Shreveport, Louisiana native is 5-2 with a 2.07 ERA and 60 K’s in 61.0 innings pitched.

Walker’s last outing came against the Orioles in Baltimore and the pitcher tossed seven innings of one run ball, striking out nine and picking up the victory.

The Chicago Cubs will have 29-year old righty Alec Mills on the mound, a former 22nd round pick with the Royals. This start will count as his second of the season, while the rest of his appearances have come out of the bullpen.

Mills, so far is having a rough go, pitching to a 6.08 ERA while owning a 2-0 record. The Clarksville, Tennessee native has only struck out 15 batters in 23.2 innings pitched, so far this season.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY, as well as nationally on ESPN.
