This afternoon the Mets traveled to the Marlins’ spring training complex and unfortunately took the loss. Montgomery wasn’t good by any stretch of the imagination while Edwin Diaz struggled, as well.

Pitching Lines:

Mike Montgomery: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 6.14 ERA

Breakdown: With spring training coming to a close, the Mets are trying to figure out if they should carry a second lefty. Mike Montgomery is making a serious case for it NOT to be him as the left-hander went 2.2 innings while giving up five earned runs.

Dellin Betances: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K. 7.71 ERA

Arodys Vizcaino: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. 0.00 ERA

Breakdown: Vizcaino was notified that he will not be making the team on opening day. Now, I’d imagine this was something he anticipated and was preparing for. We’ll see if Vizcaino sticks around or tries to make a spot in another bullpen, however if he does ask for his release, he’ll be a solid addition to almost any club.

Offensive Stars of the game:

Michael Conforto: 2-4, 2B.

Breakdown: Conforto upped his batting average to .255 for the spring while collected an extra-base hit off of lefty Daniel Castano of the Marlins.

Brandon Nimmo: 1-4, HR.

Breakdown: Nimmo hit a homer in the third inning off of Daniel Castano, his second home run and third RBI of the spring. Nimmo has been leading off on a regular basis, so it’s safe to say the on-base machine knows where he’ll be.

Tomorrow will be the final game of Spring Training for the Mets and it will go against the St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch is scheduled 12:05 PM EST and unfortunately will not be televised.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
