The infamous Houston Astros hosted the Mets this evening at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches with Michael Wacha squaring off against Astros right hander Lance McCullers.

Wacha looked alright in his third outing of the spring by tossing 2.2 innings, giving up an earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out two. The Mets right hander now owns a 1.17 ERA so far this spring.

The Iowa City, Iowa born pitcher went 6-7 with an ERA of 4.76 in 126.2 innings pitched with the St. Louis Cardinals during the 2019 campaign. The 28 year old has an impressive resume while still owning the potential to be an above average pitcher once again.

Wacha will be battling Rick Porcello and Steven Matz for the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation, so Spring Training will have an interesting in-house competition between a set of veteran pitchers.

Brandon Nimmo took charge of the lead-off spot as he wen 2-3 with a triple and a run scored. Nimmo is now batting .400 this spring with a 1.030 OPS.

Minor leaguer Yefry Ramirez would end up giving up a solo shot to Astros minor leaguer Chas McCormick in the bottom half of the ninth to take home the win for the ‘Stros.
