  2. Alonso 1B
  3. Conforto RF
  4. Ramos C

  6. Rosario SS
  7. Nimmo CF

  9. Wheeler RHP

While our reigning National League Cy Young Jacob deGrom pitched a brilliant game last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks and tonight, the Mets will need Zack Wheeler to pick up where the pitching staff left off last night. Arizona is now currently 2.5 games behind for the second Wild Card seed while the Mets are 4 game back from the same spot.

Wheeler, the former sixth overall pick by the San Francisco Giants of the 2009 June Amateur Draft, is currently 10-7 with an ERA of 4.33, a 1.31 WHIP with 163 strikeouts in 166.1 innings pitched. However in his last seven starts, the Georgia native is 3-1 with a 3.21 ERA and is coming off of a decent start in which he gave up one earned run to Washington Nationals in 5 innings pitched.

New York Mets rookie first baseman Pete Alonso hit his 46th and 47th home-run last night to retake the lead over Mike Trout and the rest of league. The home runs have put Alonso on pace to hit 53 home runs on the season, which would break New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge’s Major League record.

Alonso is now batting .270/.369/.599/.968 and hit both of tonight’s home runs off of fellow rookie Merrill Kelly.

Arizona will send rookie right hander Zac Gallen to the mound (There’s too many Zack’s in this league). While Gallen hasn’t pitched the entire season for the Diamondbacks’ Major League squad, he surely has been effective enough while doing so with his 2.50 ERA. However, his efforts have only earned him a 3-4 win/loss record but has struck out an impressive 82 batters in 68.1 innings pitched.
