The New York Mets have officially signed Joe Panik today and added him to the team’s 25-man roster. Unfortunately, when someone comes, someone also has to go.

The Mets ended up having to designate Adeiny Hechavarria for assignment to clear roster space. I thought the Mets would just option Luis Guillorme down and save Hechavarria due to Panik and Guillorme being left handed batters. Hechavarria could have added balance to the position.
