The Mets hosted the Nationals in today’s contest and unfortunately they took a 7-3 loss. Peterson threw the ball well today as McCann drove in a run, as well.
Pitching Lines:
David Peterson: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K. 3.75 ERA
Breakdown: With Peterson having the fourth spot in the rotation claimed already, this was only his third appearance of the spring. The next time we see Peterson on the hill, it’ll be in the regular season.
Robert Gsellman: 2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K. 5.63 ERA
Stephen Tarpley: 0.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. 5.68 ERA
Breakdown: This was important inning for Stephen Tarpley, especially going down the final stretch of spring. Tarpley gave up two earned runs but maybe more importantly, two hits to left handed batters. It looks like he’ll be heading to Syracuse.
Tylor Megill: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. 0.00 ERA
Offensive Stars of the game:
Dom Smith: 1-3, 3B, RBI.
Breakdown: While some might be worried about Dom’s offensive numbers so far this Spring, it should put those at ease after a 1-3 contest. His sole hit happened to be a triple, one that probably should’ve been prevented however, that’s how it crumbles in the cookie club.
Francisco Lindor: 2-4.
Jeff McNeil: 1-4, 2B, Run Scored.
Breakdown: McNeil lined a double to center off of Kyle McGowin in the bottom half of the second inning, he would later score on a James McCann single. Unfortunately, he also had an error at second, his fourth of the spring.
The Mets will host the Astros tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 PM EST, as they experiment opening with Jacob Barnes before going to Joey Lucchesi.
