The New York Mets and Brandon Nimmo have agreed to an 8 year deal that’s worth $162M, averaging roughly $20M per season and the deal contains a no-trade clause.
Nimmo, a Wyoming native, was drafted by the Mets in 2011, as their first rounder and 13th overall pick.
While many had doubts about Nimmo early on, he’s proved himself to be more than just an on-base machine. His power has increased dramatically over the last few years and he’s become a defensive presence in center field.
This is huge news for the Mets, as there were rumors swirling around about the Toronto Blue Jays and their interest in Nimmo.
This will allow the team to keep Marte in right field, hopefully protecting him from further injuries for the remainder of his contract.
Of course, Nimmo will continue to man down center field, as the captain amongst the outfielders, as well as lead-off with his “out of this world” on-base percentage.
This is absolutely a “feel-good” signing, keeping Nimmo in Orange and Blue for the rest of his career, just days after deGrom departed for Texas.

The Mets have claimed right-handed pitcher Stephen Ridings off of waivers from the Yankees.
Ridings appeared in 5 games in 2021 and in five innings pitched, the Huntington, New York native owned 1.80 ERA.
Ok, so who’s ready to party? No, no, we didn’t win shit but as of right now, MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal is reporting that it’s highly unlikely that deGrom would leave the Mets for the Atlanta Braves.
Yes, I’m absolutely celebrating this bit of news if it turns up to be true.
Being that deGrom is from the south in DeLand, Florida, many executives around the league believed that the Braves would be a landing spot that would be highly desired for the 34 year old veteran.
So now, if Atlanta is out of the deGrom race (which I highly doubt), look for the Texas Rangers to make a huge push for the 2-time Cy Young Award Winner.

The Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets have worked out a deal that would send Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi to the Royals.
Kansas City will send prospect Franchy Cordero to the Red Sox in return for Benintendi.
Kansas City Royals Outfield Prospect Khalil Lee is expected to go to the New York Mets as part of this trade.
Lee is ranked as the Royals eighth best prospect and has a ton of speed to go along with some pop. The outfielder was actually also scouted as a pitcher, as well. So his outfield arm should be on point. This is a great acquisition, considering all the details haven’t been revealed yet.
With a lot of the Mets prospects being pitchers and players that are slotted elsewhere, this give the Mets the opportunity to strengthen their outfield prospects.
The Mets will send Josh Winchowski to the Red Sox and the Mets will also send out a PTBNL.
