Veteran Clayton Kershaw earned the 200th victory of his illustrious career. The left-hander went seven innings, giving up just three hits and striking out nine.
Lindor, Canha, and McNeil each picked up a hit off of the future Hall of Fame’r. Daniel Vogelbach would pinch hit for Eduardo Escobar, picking up a hit off of reliever Evan Phillips.
While the game started out promising, with Brandon Nimmo starting the game at third base coming off of the rare Jason Heyward E-9.
The Mets’ offense was unable to capitalize, as Kershaw would follow by striking out Marte, Lindor, and Alonso, stranding Nimmo.
The Mets will try to take the rubber game on Wednesday afternoon before heading San Francisco for a four game series.
