With the Mets losing a few relievers over the last month or so, it was obviously no secret that the Mets needed some help in the pen.
So the Mets claimed Edwin Uceta from the Pittsburgh Pirates. While there’s nothing wildly impressive about him, he does at least average a strikeout per inning.
The Dominican born right hander has bounced around quite a lot on the waiver wire and has finally made his way over to the Mets organization… so don’t expect him to stick around for the entirety of the season.
With injuries hitting pitchers like Edwin Diaz, and even relievers like Sam Coonrod, Bryce Montes de Oca, Jeff Brigham, Tommy Hunter, and Stephen Ridings, this is a move that just had to happen.
