Former New York Mets Minor Leaguer Matt Pobereyko was found dead in his apartment in Chicago by his girlfriend.

Pobereyko’s brother Daniel stated: “He just dropped and that’s all we know. We don’t know… There’s nothing outstanding on the autopsy. But from what I understand he would have gotten a clean bill of health if he had a pulse.”

The pitcher played for Team Mexico as recent as this month, as Pobereyko was a member of Caribbean World Series in Venezuela. The right-hander was working on obtaining a contract from one of the Asian League’s as apart of his plan to play in the MLB once again before the heart attack prematurely ended the young man’s life.

Unfortunately, that chance will never come to fruition.

The highest level Pobereyko pitched in the states was with the Las Vegas 51’s, back in 2018.

My condolences to the families of the young pitcher, RIP.
