The Mets lost to the Diamondbacks on Saturday afternoon 3-2. After 5 scoreless frames with 8 strikeouts for Carlos Carrasco, the game remained tied until the seventh.
After a strong sixth, Joely Rodriguez was asked to get the lefty to start the seventh. He allowed a Bloop hit to Seth Beer, before he got replaced by Seth Lugo. Lugo struggled in his outing, allowing a 2 run homerun to Sergio Alcantara and the Diamondbacks added another run on a Ketel Marte RBI Double. It was noticeable that Lugo velo was down in the outing, which is concerning.
May, who returned to action, kept the Mets in the game with a scoreless 8th in his return. The Mets offense, who were silenced by Zac Gallen and the Arizona Bullpen, cut rhe deficit to one run in eight on a Starling Marte two run homer.
After Ottavino struck out three to get out of a bases loaded gem in the ninth, the Mets couldn’t complete the comeback. Today the Mets will try to win their third series in a row, with David Peterson getting his first start of the season.
