The Mets beat the Nationals to improve to 2-0 in the early season. Max Scherzer made his Mets debut and he was solid going 6 innings of 3 run ball. Max allowed just 3 hits and a walk, while striking out 6 to get his first win as a Met.
The Mets got more then enough offense in their 7-3 victory. The Mets collected 13 hits with Jeff McNeil being the big man. On his 30th birthday, McNeil went 3 for 4 with a homerun, 2RBI’s, 2 runs and a walk.
Other solid performances came from Starling Marte (2 for 5, 2B, 3RBI), Robbie Cano (1 for 4, 2RBI), Mark Canha (2 for 3, R, 2BB) and Bradon Nimmo (2 for 5, 3B, R).
Another day, another Mets hit in the face as Lindor got hit by Steve Chishek. The beaches cleared with Buck Showalter going at it first. Lindor X-Rays were negative and he passed his concussion protocol.
After Scherzer, the Mets bullpen shut down the Nats with scoreless frames from Drew Smith, Seth Lugo and Sean Reid-Foley. Edwin Diaz is unavailable for a couple of days after his grandpa passed away.
Today Chris Bassitt will make his Mets debut against Joan Adon and the Nationals. The Game starts at 7.05 in D.C. and can be watched on SNY.
