I’ve spent the last few hours pinching myself to make sure that I’m not sleeping, and I’m still not really believing it. However, according to the insiders within MLB, the Mets are actually the front-runners to land Scherzer.

If the deal gets done, the Mets would undoubtedly have the hottest off-season to date. So far, Billy Eppler has made additions like Eduardo Escobar, Mark Canha, and even Starling Marte. Just imagine a starting rotation that has both Jacob deGrom as well as Max Scherzer.

I'm surprised the #Mets are in the game late with Scherzer. Last week every exec/agent I asked said he'd go to a West Coast team. Still could happen, but the NYM have party crashed into serious competition. Again, the strong expectation is this is settled no later than tomorrow
