According to Jacob Resnick, the Mets have signed Jose Rodriguez to a minor league deal. Rodriguez had 10 appearances with the Angels between 2019 and 2020, pitching to a 2.53 ERA over 21.1 innings. Over that span Rodriguez owned a 6.73 FIP, so small samplesize low ERA is definitely part of the story.
Last year the 26 year old righty pitched to a 4.47 ERA between AA and AAA for the Braves. He totaled a 100.2 innings with 21 starts and 2 relief outings. In that span he had a 1.22 WHIP and 8.3 strikeout per nine rate.
Rodriguez will fill in as depth in the upper levels for the Mets.
