The 54-46 New York Mets will play the first game of a three-game set against the 50-52 -Atlanta Braves. So far, both teams are even this series with the rubber match on Thursday afternoon.
The Mets plan to send right-hander Taijuan Walker to the hill, making his 19th appearance of the 2021 season. The Shreveport, Louisiana native is 7-4 with a 3.43 ERA and has 90 K’s in 94.1 innings pitched.
Walker’s last outing came against the Blue Jays back at Citi Field, and got shelled. He went on to throw just 4.0 innings as he gave up six runs on eight hits and struck out one. That makes back to back poor outings for Walker, and has an ERA of almost six in his last seven games pitched.

The Atlanta Braves will have 32-year old lefty Drew Smyly on the mound, a former second round pick with the Detroit Tigers back in 2010. In his last start, Smyly pitched well however only went 4.0 innings and didn’t give up any runs. The veteran left-hander did walk three as well as give up three hits while also striking out three.
Smyly, so far is having a decent season, pitching to a 4.30 ERA but owning an impressive 7-3 record. The Little Rock, Arkansas native has also struck out 77 batters in 88.0 innings pitched, so far this season.
First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY, as well as nationally on MLB Network.
