The 49-43 New York Mets will play the last of a three-game set against the 49-46 Cincinnati Reds. After splitting the first two games, the Mets look to take the rubber match against this scrappy Cincinnati club.
This afternoon’s contest will feature Long Island native Marcus Stroman on the hill. Stroman owns a 6-8 record and has pitched to a 2.79 ERA in 103.1 innings. In his last seven however, he’s struggled a bit as he’s been pitching to a 3.62 ERA with a 1-2 record during that stretch.
Stroman picked up the loss in his last out but did pitch well. The right-hander tossed five innings while giving up two runs on on eight hits against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
The Cincinnati Reds will have 23-year old, Latham, New York local Jeff Hoffman on the mound, a former first round pick (9th Overall) of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2014 draft. In his last start, Anderson pitched 1.1 innings while giving up two runs on five walks and two hits in a loss against the Washington Nationals.
Hoffman, so far is having an mediocre season, pitching to a 4.61 ERA while owning a 3-4 record. The right-hander has also struck out 39 batters in 41.0 innings pitched, so far this season. In his career, Hoffman owns a 13-20 record to go alongside a 6.13 ERA in 78 games.
First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY, as well as nationally on MLB Network.
