It’s being reported that the Mets once again plan on putting Jacob deGrom on the injured list. Many fans began to speculate when deGrom didn’t start the opener against the Pirates, coming fresh off of the All-Star break.
The Mets ace has appeared in 15 games this season and has pitched to a 1.08 ERA in 92.0 innings. The two-time Cy Young award winner has also struck out an astronomical 146 batters, as well as being on his way to grab that third Cy.
His two prior IL stints were short and us fans can only hope that this one will be, too. If not, should the Mets plan to acquire a front end pitcher? Or does Steve Cohen and company go for a rental at short?
