MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Walker Dominant, Baty Homers Again

Syracuse Mets (11-21)

The Syracuse Mets lost to the Worcester Red Sox 12-5, besides a 2 run homerun from Albert Almora Jr.

Drew Jackson drove in two with a double and Ceasar Puello collected his first hit and RBI since returning to the Mets organization.

Thomas Szapucki took a step back with a bad outing. He allowed 5 runs in 3.2 innings of work. In his outing, he allowed 6 hits and 3 walks. With the Mets playing a lot of games over the next three weeks, Szapucki is likely making his MLB debut soon.

After Renteria struggled, Windle, Diaz, Reid-Foley and position player Sebastián Elizalde had scoreless outings.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (10-21)

The Rumble Ponies beat the Baysox, who have a 22-8 record, 9-1. Carlos Cortes keeps hitting with a 2 for 4 day, driving in 1. Luis Carpio went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Walter Lagrange also went 2 for 4, but he drove in two.

Josh Walker was great again going 7 innings of one run ball. Walker has been a pleasant surprise on the mound in the minors and majors. Between Brooklyn and Binghamton, the Mets 2017 31st round pick has pitched to a 2.77 ERA, 0.92WHIP and 44 strikeouts.

Brooklyn Cyclones (10-19)

The Cyclones split a Doubleheader on Wednesday against the Renegades.

Game one:

The Cyclones lost a close one in game one, losing 3-2. Cody Bohanek homered and is hitting .300 with a .1062 OPS. Luke Ritter collected 2 hits.

Justin Lasko wasn’t bad as he allowed 3 runs over 5.2 innings. He struck out 8 but allowed two homerun that accounted for all the runs allowed.

Game two:

The Cyclones best the Renegades 5-3 in game two. Brett Baty went 2 for 3 with yet another homerun, his fifth homerun in his last 8 games. Baty is hitting .367 with a .1090 OPS.

Gerson Molina hit a big homerun to give the Cyclones the lead in the fourth!

Hunter Parsons got the start allowing three runs in 3 innings of work. Eric Orze and Bryce Montes de Oca were dominant after Parsons. They both pitched two scoreless. Orze struck out 3 and de Oca 2.

St. Lucie Mets (19-13)

The St. Lucie Mets beat the Palm Beach Cardinals 5-3, behind a J.T. Ginn strong outing. Ginn pitched 4 inning of one run ball, allowing just 4 hits and walk, while striking out 2.

Jose Peroza (not Peraza) homered in a 2 for 2 day. He drove in 3 and was on base 4 times. Joe Suozzi kept hitting going 2 for 3, with a RBI. He is hitting .400 in 25 at bats.
