Tuesday’s Pitching Preview & Lineup 6/8

The 29-23 New York Mets will play the first of a two-game set against the 21-38 Baltimore Orioles. After splitting the series in San Diego and a day off, the Mets look to keep the momentum going.

Tonight’s contest will feature a couple of left-handed pitchers on the mound. The Mets plan to send David Peterson to the hill, making his 11th appearance of the season. The Denver, Colorado native is 1-4 with a 5.89 ERA with 49 K’s in 44.1 innings pitched.

Peterson, currently in his second Major League season, is coming off of a start in which he allowed five earned runs to the Diamondbacks in just 0.1 of an inning.

I’m not sure what the over/under will be for tonight’s game, however assuming it’ll be 8.5 or 9.5, I’ll definitely be taking the over.

The Baltimore Orioles will have 26-year old Bruce Zimmermann on the mound, a left-hander that’s also making his 11th appearance of the campaign. Zimmermann’s last outing was against the Minnesota Twins and went 5.1 innings while allowing two earned runs, a performance well enough to pick up a win.

Zimmermann so far is having a pretty mediocre season, pitching to a 4.96 ERA while owning a 3-3 record. The North Carolina native has also struck out 43 batters in 49.0 innings pitched, so far this season.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY.
