For David Peterson, this will make back to back shortened starts when the lefty is out there. This time out against the Baltimore Orioles, Peterson threw just 2.2 innings while surrendering four earned runs on eight base hits. The left-hander’s ERA is now at 6.32 after this appearance in Baltimore.

Despite the terrible outing, manager Luis Rojas told reporters that David Peterson will indeed make his next scheduled start. So while many might have been wondering about Peterson’s fate, management seems to know have a plan.

Believe it or not, the Mets actually got up early in this contest when Pete Alonso hit a two-run shot in the first inning. The home run, his eighth, would come off of lefty Bruce Zimmermann and put the boys in Orange & Blue up by two.

Every pitcher wearing a Mets uniform in this contest gave up a run, so there isn’t much to write about on that front. However, Drew Smith struck out three batters in two innings pitched while giving up a run.

While the rest of the Mets offense was on a sabbatical, Pete Alonso came through with another home run. His second dinger of the evening would this time come off of pitcher Travis Larkin Sr., a righty with a plus six ERA.

The Mets and Orioles will finish off this series tomorrow evening at 7:05 PM EST in Camden Yards.
