MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Alvarez Collects 4 RBI’s, Baty Homers Again

Syracuse Mets (11-19)

The Syracuse Mets lost to the Bisons 5-2. Khalil Lee kept hitting going 2 for 4 with a RBI. The lefty hitting CFder is hitting .353 with a .1061 OPS. Orlando Calixte also went 2 for 4 with a RBI.

Luis Guillorme played 5 innings at third, going 1 for 3 as he gets closer to returning.

The Syracuse got some bad news with David Thompson, who left the game after stealing a base. He reportedly grabbed the back of his right leg.

Jesus Reyes kept Syracuse in the game over 5.2 innings. He allowed 10 hits and 2 walks, but was able to limit the damage to just 3 runs. Former Met and one of my favorite players Dilson Herrera hit a RBI single off Jesus Reyes.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (9-20)

The Rumble Ponies won their 7th of their last 10 game with a 9-6 win over the Fisher Cats.

The Rumble Ponies scored 6 runs in the seventh on three 2 run homeruns. Will Toffey, Hayden Senger and Desmond Lindsay all went deep. Senger had a great game, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s. The catcher is hitting .324/.364/.592 between High-A and AA.

Carlos Cortes stayed hot with a 2 for 3 day with 2 doubles. Manny Rodriguez homered as well.

Tony Dibrell had another solid outing allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings. He allowed two solo shots for the only runs allowed. He didn’t allow a walk, while striking out 5. Dibrell ERA stands at 3.20.

Brooklyn Cyclones (9-18)

The Cyclones lost 11-6 to the BlueClaws, besides 4 RBIs from Alvarez. Alvarez went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and a walk. Alvarez has hit .345/.486/.585 between St. Lucie and Brooklyn.

Brett Baty improved on his power surge as he homered for the fourth time in a week. He is hitting .369/.476/.595, as a promotion to AA should be close.

Unfortunately the pitching couldn’t take advantage of some good hitting performances. Jose Butto allowed 6 runs in 4 innings, mainly because he allowed 4 homeruns.

St. Lucie Mets (17-13)

The St. Lucie Mets won a rain shortened 6 inning game from the Mighty Mussels 2-0. The St. Lucie Mets got their runs on a Warren Saunders RBI Double and a Double Steal, were Alex Ramirez stole home. The struggling St. Lucie offense collected just 3 hits overall.

Oscar Rojas was tremendous, going 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hits without a walk and 2 strikeouts. The 22 year old righty from Mexico, has pitched 10 scoreless innings, since his demotion from Brooklyn.
