Thursday’s Pitching Preview 6/3

The 27-21 New York Mets will play the first out of a four-game set against the 34-23 San Diego Padres. After winning the series in Arizona, the Mets look to carry the heat from the desert to the bay.

The Mets plan to send the recently acquired Taijuan Walker to the hill, making his tenth appearance of the season. The Shreveport, Louisiana native is 4-1 with a 1.84 ERA with 49 K’s in 49.0 innings pitched.

Walker is coming off of a start in which he tossed five innings, while giving up two hits and not allowing any runs in his effort against the Atlanta Braves on the 29th of May.

The San Diego Padres will have 34-year old Yu Darvish on the mound, a veteran right-hander making his 12th appearance of the campaign. Darvish’ last outing was against the Houston Astros as he went five innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits.

Darvish so far is having a solid season, pitching to a 2.16 ERA while owning a 5-1 record. The Japanese born pitcher has also struck out 79 batters in 66.2 innings pitched, so far this season.

First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY.
