MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Walk This Way! St. Lucie Collect 18 Walks in Win

Syracuse Mets (8-16)

The Syracuse Mets won their third in a row, shutting out the Red Wings 1-0. Jerad Eickhoff was great once again, going 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits and one walk. Eickhoff struck out 7 and lowered his ERA to 3.82.

Eickhoff has allowed just 7 hits over his last two starts (both 6 innings scoreless outings). In those 12 innings, he allowed just 2 walks, while striking out 10.

Corey Oswalt completed the shutout, going 3 scoreless innings. Oswalt allowed just one hit, while striking out 5. He lowered his ERA to 1.59, as he allowed just one solo homerun in 5.2 innings this year.

Nick Meyer collected three hits and the only RBI on a bunt hit.

St. Lucie Mets (16-8)

The St. Lucie Mets were outhit 8-6 but still won 15-3. The Tortugas pitching walked St. Lucie Mets hitters 18 times on Sunday. Yes thats not a typo.

Brandon McIlwain and Shervyen Newton hit three run homeruns in the victory. Randy Adon and Jaylen Palmer walked 4 times.

St. Lucie pitching did way better walking 4, while striking out 13 hitters. Matt Cleveland had his third scoreless outing of the year.
