Syracuse Mets (5-16)
The Syracuse Mets dropped to 5 and 16 after a 9-8 loss to the Red Wings. Both teams are struggling to win games.
Drew Jackson went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBIs in the loss. David Thompson also had a good game going 2 for 5 with a triple. Thompson is hitting the ball well with a .855 OPS.
Adam Bostick, who the Mets signed from Indy Ball, got his first start going 4 innings, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits and 4 walks. Stephen Nogosek kept his great season going with 2 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts. Nogosek lowered his ERA to 1.46. Trey Cobb struggled on the mound but did collect his first pro hit.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies (4-17)
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies swept a Doubleheader from the RubberDucks. A much needed great day for the Rumble Ponies.
Game one:
The Rumble Ponies won game one thanks to a walk off single from Walter Lagrange, scoring Jake Mangum in the bottom of the eight. Vientos homered in the first for his third of the season. Vientos was 2 for 4 raising his OPS to 651
Josh Walker, who pitched splendid I Brooklyn before his promotion, was great in his AA debut going 6 innings of 2 run ball. Shaw and McIlraith pitched perfect frames to get the extra inning victory.
Game two:
Another game, another Walk Off as the Rumble Ponies came back from a 7-1 deficit to beat the RubberDucks 8-7 on a Mark Vientos Walk off single. Vientos had another 2 for 4 day, driving in 2. He raised it OPS to 677 after his great Doubleheader.
Jake Mangum also had a great game going 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a RBI. The centerfielder is hitting .320 with a 840 OPS since his callup. Jeremy Vasquez and Yoel Romero both had two hits in the win. Romero drove in two and Vazquez got on base 4 times.
Oscar de la Cruz struggled allowing 5 runs in 1.2 innings. Yeizo Campos held his own with 3.1 innings of two run ball. Andrew Mitchell earned the win with 2 scoreless, lowering his ERA to 2.53.
Brooklyn Cyclones (7-13)
While Binghamton swept the double header, the Cyclones got swept in theirs.
Game one:
The Cyclones lost game one 6-2 to the IronBirds. Baty and Mauricio both collected a hit. Baty also drove in one of the two runs. The other run got driven in by Francisco Alvarez, who went 0 for 2.
Jaison Vilera went 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned), as his struggles continues. Andrew Edwards pitched a scoreless frame lowering his ERA to 1.86.
Game two:
The Cyclones got crushed 10-1 in game two. Blake Tiberi got the only multi hit game, while Mauricio and Alvarez both went 0 for 3.
Cam Opp allowed 8 runs in 2 innings to put the Cyclones behind big early.
St. Lucie Mets (14-6)
After Walking off the Tortugas on Wednesday, the St. Lucie Mets lost 9-4 on Thursday. Tanner Murphy homered for one of the 5 hits the St. Lucie Mets collected.
Joander Suarez struggled allowing 6 runs in 3.1 innings of work. Liam McCall struck out three over 2 scoreless frames. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in 8.2 innings, collecting 11 strikeouts.
