MetsJunkies MiLB Recap: Poor Palm Beach Cardinals

Syracuse Mets (3-12)

The Syracuse Mets snapped their losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the IronPigs. Jerad Eickhoff got the start and pitched 6 strong innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Eickhoff walked 3 and struck out 7, lowering his ERA to 6.00. Stephen Nogosek got the clutch save, pitching 3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 5. Nogosek lowered his ERA to 1.93 for the year.

David Thompson hit his third homer of the season, a two run shot in the third. Catcher Nick Meyer drove in two.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-13)

The Binghamton struggles continue after a 11-1 loss to the SeaWolves. Mark Vientos is starting to get going, having another 2 hit game. Vientos is 5 for his last 11.

The pitching struggled, as the Rumble Ponies got the best outing of the day from Cole Gordon. Gordon allowed a solo homerun in 2.2 innings, striking out 3. The 32nd rounder pick from the 2019 draft has struck out 10 over 7.2 innings with a 0.82WHIP.

Brooklyn Cyclones (5-9)

The Brooklyn Cyclones couldn’t follow up their offensive production from Wednesday with another offensive explosion. The Cyclones were silenced by the Renegades in a 6-1 loss.

Ronny Mauricio extended his hitting streak to 12 games, but he also struck out three times. Mauricio has cooled down a bit, going 3 for 13 with 7 strikeouts in his last 3 games.

Jaison Vilera pitched well over 5 innings of 2 run ball, but Colby Morris struggled in his Cyclones debut, allowing 4 runs.

St. Lucie Mets (11-4)

The poor Palm Beach Cardinals. After facing Lugo and Syndergaard, they had the pleasure of facing the games best in a rehab start. deGrom went 3 hitless innings, with 8 strikeouts and no walks. Kudos to the 2 guys who got the ball in play. The Cardinals weren’t able to take advantage of the other pitchers they faced, getting shutout by the St. Lucie Mets 7-0.

After deGrom, the St. Lucie Mets got 5 scoreless innings from Justin Lasko, who lowered his ERA to 2.40. He struck out 6, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks.

Zach Ashford collected three hits and drove in 2. He is hitting .354 with a 904 OPS. Top prospect Francisco Alvarez had another 2 hit game, going 2 for 4 with a RBI. He is hitting .459 with a 1229 OPS.

Kudos to the Palm Beach Cardinals Twitter people, who created a lot of funny tweets.
