The Mets beat the Braves 4-3 after Tomas Nido hit a clutch 2 out, solo homerun in the top of the ninth. Diaz closed it out with a perfect ninth striking out two.
The Mets went with a bullpen game and it worked. Miguel Castro opened the game with a perfect inning. Hunter followed with 2 scoreless, striking out 4 and collecting his first hit. The veteran hasn’t allowed an earned run so far this year.
Gsellman and May allowed a solo homerun in their outings, to let the Braves get back into the game.
After Loup pitched a solid 7th, he started the ninth allowing a double. Familia walked Acuna, but got a huge double play from Freeman. Unfortunately a broken bat hit from Ozuna tied the game in the eight.
On the offensive side the Mets got a two run homerun by Villar, scoring him and Hunter in the third. Alonso added another run with a sac fly, scoring Lindor who went 2 for 4.
The Mets defense did their part in the win. Khalil Lee made a great diving catch in the sixth, to make up for him overmatched start at the plate.
Peraza also made a terrific play to rob a hit in the fourth. The run down took a little bit to long, but the stop from Peraza was a run saving play.
The Mets won back to back games against a division rival in their ballpark, with most of their players on the injured list. This is as impressive as can be. The Mets will try to sweep the Braves with David Peterson getting the start.
