Matt Harvey returned to Citified to face off against the Mets, Taijuan Walker took the mound for the Mets. Harvey was able to retire the side with no problems on the first inning, but in the second inning, the Mets were able to score three runs on four consecutive hits to start the inning. Alonso lead of the inning with a double, Smith with a single, Pillar with a 2 run triple and finally a single from Peraza for the 3rd RBI of the inning. Harvey was able to retire the next three batters with ease.

Francisco Lindor led of the 3rd inning with a single, and ended up Stealing a base. Smith was able to bring him in with an RBI Single to make the score 4-0 Mets.

Villar led off the 5th with a basehit and stole his career 220 base. Lindor flew out to Center and moved Villar over to third. Conforto was able to bring him home in a base hit for the Mets 5th run. Harvey’s return was short as he was taken out of the game after walking Alonso following the Conforto RBI hit. Shawn Armstrong took over for Harvey with two of runners on base, but imediatly allowed an RBI double to Dom Smith for his 4th hit of the game and the Mets 6th run of the day. Peraza hit a single between short and third for the Mets 7th run which were all charged to Matt Harvey.

Matt Harvey ended the game with the following box score: 4.1 IP 7 R 8 H 1 BB 4 K

Aside form the two base hits that Armstrong gave up, the Orioles Bullpen did an excellent job keeping the Mets from scoring any more runs. Armstong was able to retire the last two batters of the inning with ease and Keegan Akin along with Tyler Wells finished the next three IP allowing only 1 base runner on a walk.

Walker started off the first inning by only allowing a double to Trey Mancini but was able to get out of the inning without allowing a run. During the second inning he started off a little shaky as he wasn’t getting the calls he wanted by the home plate ump. He allowed two walks in the second but again was able to get out of the inning with no problems. Walker went off to retire the 11 straight batters faced with ease, and help from some strong defensive plays made by the Mets. The next hit against Walker came on a base hit by Cedric Mullens to start the top of the six.

Walker had another great outing as he went 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, and 4 K. Robert Gsellman was able to get out of a bases loaded jam he dug himself into after allowing 1 hit and 2 walks in the 8th. Drew Smith pitched the 9th without allowing a baserunner and striking out 1.

The game was highlighted by excellent defensive plays from Conforto and Peraza as well as clutch hitting from the bench mob.

Mets are now 18-13 after sweeping the Baltimore Orioles and going on a 7 game winning streak. They will receive a day off on Thursday and begin their three game series @ Tampa Bay on Friday.
