MetsJunkies Game Recap: Mets Split the Doubleheader

The Mets split their doubleheader in St. Louis. The Mets lost the first game 4-1 and won the second game 7-2.

Stroman started game one and allowed 4 runs (2 earned) in 5 innings. The Mets couldn’t get much offense going against Kim and the Cardinals with McCann getting the only RBI.

In the second game the Mets got some more offense going. Nido hit a 2 run shot after the Mets got their first run on a wild pitch in the second. Jonathan Villar hit a solo shot in the fourth and other bench player Pillar collected 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. All 6 RBIs came from those three hitters.

On the pitching side, the Mets started with opener Miguel Castro, who kept the Cardinals off the board. Yamamoto came in after Castro to pitch 2.2 innings of one run ball for the win. The run he allowed scored after Loup allowed a RBI single in the fourth. May, Gsellman and Familia closed out the 7-2 victory.
