The Mets took two of three while making a visit to Denver, Colorado and after a day off, the boys in Orange & Blue are set to take on the Cubs for a three game series in Chicago.
The Mets plan to send right-hander Taijuan Walker to the hill to make his third start of the campaign. His last outing wasn’t exactly a typical one as he pitched just 4.1 innings. He would only end up surrendering one earned run and just three hits, while it was also super encouraging to see him fan eight batters.
On the season, Walker owns a 2.61 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched and has struck out 12 batters. While he’s yet to earn a decision on the year, he’s definitely pitching well enough to earn his pay.
The Chicago Cubs will have old friend Jake Arrieta on the mound, a righty with a 3.18 ERA. This will be the Mets’ first time seeing Arrieta this year, however the Mets have seen him with the Phillies as well as the Cubs in the past.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY, as well as nationally on ESPN.
