Monday’s Pitching Preview 4/12

After a wasted effort on Sunday, the Mets will kick off a new series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. This time around the four game-set will be hosted in Queens against a 6-3 division rival in the Phillies.

The Mets plan to send left-hander David Peterson to the hill to make his second start of the season. His first outing was an ugly one as he allowed five runs out of the gate, in the first. He would end up surrendering six earned runs in just four innings pitched and currently owns a 13.50 ERA this season.

While Peterson lost the game in the first, I was impressed on how he bounced back afterwards. He only pitched four innings but could’ve easily been chased out after that horrendous inning. Hopefully the 25 year old will have a strong outing to get the Mets back at .500 on the year.

The Philadelphia Phillies will have Chase Anderson on the mound, a righty with a 4.06 ERA. This will be the Mets’ second time seeing Anderson, as Dom Smith took him deep for a two-run shot.

So far this season in just five innings pitched, Anderson owns a 3.60 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP while having struck out only three.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST and will be televised locally on SNY.
