Mets pay tribute to legend DMX

Some may question me referring to DMX as a legend, if you do, you have no place here. From Yonkers, New York, Earl Simmons aka DMX has not only been a staple in New York hip hop, but has touched souls on a global scale.

The New York Mets recognized the importance of X on Saturday afternoon as they squared up against the Marlins. First, as they took the field to “X Gon’ Give it to Ya.”

Then after Jacob deGrom struck out two before ending the inning on a pop up, “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” was playing as the team walked off.

Dom Smith also walked up to “What’s My Name?” before his first at-bat.

It’s great for me personally to see a bunch of players from my favorite team pay their respects to one of the most influential MC’s to ever grab the mic.

RIP, X. We’ll miss you forever.
