Mets target Tomoyuki Sugano has reportedly landed in the US. It will be a very important week in Sugano’s career. The Japanese righty has until January the 7th to sign a contract with a major league club. The Mets seem to be one of the front runners.

Tomoyuki Sugano is coming of a terrific season in the NPB. In 20 starts he went 14-2 with a 1.98 ERA. Main plus is he went 137.1 innings, more than every starter has thrown in the majors. He would be more than ready to throw close to 200 innings for the Mets.
Over his 8 year career in Japan, Sugano has thrown 1362 innings, were he pitched to a 2.34 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. It’s clear he is ready for a new challenge.
I hope the Mets are able to sign him. He is seen as the second best arm on the market this offseason, by some talent evaluators. At least we know for sure this will come to an end soon.

The big question is which coast did he land on?
