Jared Porter has been officially made the General Manager of the New York Mets.
In a statement, Jared Porter said the following to the media: “I’m extremely grateful for the trust (Cohen and Alderson have) shown in me. I’m excited to join the community, get to work, and help build a collaborative and sustainable baseball operation and culture for the New York Mets.”
Sandy Alderson in a statement: “Jared has proven himself at every level and in every position he has held, earning respect from his peers throughout baseball… Jared is prepared for this next challenge.”
Porter was formerly the Senior VP as well as the assistant GM to the Arizona Diamondbacks and is said to have been mentored by Theo Epstein. He’s also served as an Executive with Chicago and Boston.
It’s still unclear for how long the deal is for, however rumors are circulating that it will be for the next four seasons.
