Hello Jerry! Welcome back

Bob Nightengale announced on twitter that the Mets have signed Jerry Blevins to a minor league deal. Blevins was part of the Mets pen from 2015-2018. In 2019 he pitched to a 3.90 ERA in 32.1 innings with the Braves, holding lefties to a .180/.261/.279 slash line. Blevins was still able to K 10.3 per nine. Slightly higher than his career norm.

The 37 year old became a fan favorite with the Mets, as he provided solid work from the left side out of the pen. Blevins pitched to a 3.38 ERA and 1.26WHIP over 138.2 innings. He struck out 10.8 per nine over that span.

Blevins provides much needed depth from the left side. If he makes the major league roster, he will earn 1.25mil with 750.000 incentives. He didn’t pitch in 2020, but before that he was still a solid arm. A 120 ERA+ in 2019, shows that.

I like this move to bring home an old friend. There could still be something left in the tank for Jerry, as he hasn’t declined on the field.

Welcome back Jerry!
