The Mets surprised some with their selcetion of RH pitcher Luis Oviedo in the MLB phase in the Rule 5 draft. When the news was announced I noticed the talent, but how would he fit in the Mets plans?
Turned out, he wasn’t. The Mets will trade Oviedo to the Pirates for cash considerations according to Anthony DiComo. That way the Mets get something for the 10th Rule 5 selection slot. So in the end, the Mets didn’t pick anyone and got some cash in return.

The Mets did lose 24 year old righty Dedniel Nunez. Nunez was the Mets 18th ranked prospect and pitched between Columbia and St. Lucie in 2019. Over 80 innings (15 starts), he pitched to a 4.39 ERA. He did strike out 94 batters and had a 1.20 WHIP.
Could definitely be a solid bullpen arm in Nunez. However, the Giants need to keep him on the 25/26 man roster for the full season (or on the IL), so odds are still there, for a return in the Mets organization.
