Ken Davidoff is reporting that the Mets will likely tender a contract to Steven Matz. Matz was a candidate to be non tendered in his final arbitration year, coming off a disaster season.
Still, with the Mets lack of starting pitching depth, losing a lefty with the ability Matz has, could bite us in the behind. Matz came of two solid season in 2018 and 2019, but couldn’t get out of his own way in 2020. Still, 2020 is a small samplesize and Matz his production on 18-19 is something you should take for little over 5 mil (5.3 expected settlement according to MLBtraderumors).
Lets just hope the 2018/2019 Matz is back in 2021. If not its a fairly easy DFA for not an extreme amount.
