Could Billy Beane be Queens bound?

While scouring Twitter, I came across a Susan Slusser piece that talks a bit about the potential departure of beloved GM Billy Beane. This of course leads me to my own speculation and I’m genuinely wondering if Beane could be bound for Flushing, Queens.

While nothing is officially set in stone with Beane’s future in Oakland, there’s definitely a lot of talk and preparation for Athletics baseball minus their staple, Bill Beane.

If he does depart from the organization, it’s no secret that Beane has a relationship with Sandy Alderson. Also, with new owner Steven Cohen set to take the helms, Beane could finally work with a payroll that’s actually competitive.

While some think of Alderson as the creator of “Moneyball”, it’s clearly evident that Billy Beane has nearly perfected the approach. If given the tools and resources to acquire the needed pieces, Beane could potentially be the greatest GM to ever step foot inside the offices of Citi Field.

While Beane would likely be given a ton of money to work with on-field, I’d imagine it would take a lot to lock down the General Manager himself.

Again, this is all speculation. But it’s alright to dream, especially with so much change happening currently in Queens and within the organization.
