The New York Mets’ pitching rotation is in need of a boost after former ace Noah Syndeergard returns from Tommy John surgery, and ace Jacob DeGrom backs a stellar 2020 in the books.
Rookie David Peterson wasn’t bad, either. It is true that adding Trevor Bauer would give the Mets another solid 1-2 punch in the rotation.
The last time the Mets were in the postseason in 2015, they had a strong and elite pitching force.
Bauer of the Cincinnati Reds is as solid as they come. In 2020, he has a 2.7 WAR, 5 wins, 4 losses and a 1.73 ERA in the regular season. Career wise, he has a 17.5 WAR, 75-64 record, and a 3.90 ERA.
Bauer is a dominant pitcher who will help shape and rebuild the Mets rotation from eh to wow. Adding one more pitcher of his caliber is just a bonus idea that the Mets should really consider with new ownership in the building.
