The Mets and catcher Bruce Maxwell have agreed to a deal, pending a physical.
Maxwell, a former second round draft pick, has become best known for kneeling during the National Anthem in 2017 while playing for the Oakland Athletics.
The catcher has played in 127 career games over the course of three seasons however hasn’t had a major league job since the 2018 season. He owns a career slash line of .240/.314/.347/.661 with 22 doubles, one triple, and five home runs in 366 at-bats.
